Yeah... Everyone uses those now... Even in like Applications for Clans.
I remember this one dude posting a Hotel on this gallery and WOW He had ALL 1x1x5's on EVERY floor/ect.

Now the only exception to 1x1x5 is for direct detail in wall colors.
Say a stripped wall, then you have an exception, but you don't want to over do it.
In most cases, 1x1x5 is pointless unless its for a good reason.
