and, if it helps, I'm pretty sure slimes can still spawn in peaceful.

Slimes only spawn very deep down.

They spawn 0-16 blocks down, not very deep.

Slimes only appear in the bottom 16 layers of the map regardless of light levels or time of day, often in large caverns or open mines.
