I dislike how the Stargate door has a 'portal' underneath it which flies up into the stargate when activated. Is there any way to make it just appear instead of flying up?

Not that I know of. My modelling program uses joint animations, meaning it cannot make things appear and dissapear. The keyswitch door uses a much better method of hiding the key in the switch when not in use, but the portal's too big for that.
