Just get to Novac, best starter house there is.
After that I usually stay at the Atomic Wrangler. I hate the Lucky 38 Suite, too spread out.

There is a bunch of buggy houses. What house will assure that I will never have to worry about unsafe containers and starfishs eating my food?

I've never had anyone eat my food or steal anything from the Novac Motel Room, the Atomic Wrangler Hotel Room, or any other actual player-house.

On the wiki it says you may have people coming in and eating your food.
