Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire

I'm not quite sure whether this statement is true because with some information on either of those subjects they make a lot of sense.

Made a new adventure mode character, an axedwarf.
After adventuring around a little bit I made the mistake of selling a shield without looking at it. Then when I looked at the description I found out it was masterwork with all sorts of engravings. I tried to buy it back, but even after obtaining almost 1000 monies, they still wouldn't sell it back to me. So I just grabbed it.
I know what happens when you steal stuff so I planned on swimming to an island. I also foresaw this in my character creation and made sure I was good enough at swimming. I started to swim to an island. Then just as night started to fall, I froze to death from the ocean freezing.

Also, peasants as companions can be a mixed bag. On my first quest it was em and a peasant. The peasant proceed to make a trolls upper body sail of in an arc with a copper carving knife. Then in my next quest I had him + 3 more. We got slaughtered by goblins.

One time my entire army of +10 started chasing after me, so I jumped into a river, I was about to escape but suddenly winter and I turned into a dwarven popsicle.
