Author Topic: Possible "Click of Death" a week ago  (Read 1873 times)

You could just buy some disk space from a server farm for cheap as hell, and then store a backup of everything in the cloud

What the clicking sound kind of sounded like
That sounds like a floppy disk drive in a laptop.
I'd get an external if I were you and backup everything to it (like said throughout the whole topic.)

If you want, you can use some of my hard drive for the most important stuff. I can spare about 10 - 20GB if you want to use Teamviewer to transfer stuff.

I'd backup everything that cannot be accessed anymore/very hard to access (i.e. private/old add-ons) and anything that can be easily backed up (i.e. most games, Steam games, etc) just reinstall when I get a new hard drive.

Thanks for the offer, but no.

All of the posts are "backup your data", which is infact a good idea but its not answering my main question:
Is my hard drive about to die?

I want to know by the end of the clicking that my hard drive was able to correct its error and continue running, or its a warning that my hard drive is going bad and will not work in time, or if its something not to worry about because its still running.

Be careful, Wikipedia says the drive head may be going out of alignment. If it does it again, stuff is hitting the fan. Its probable, but you still need to be ready in case it does it again.

Ill help out by letting you upload some important files info my PC by FTP(no harmful things)

What makes you think he'll say yes to you if he said no to me?

According to Speccy, my hard drives status is "Good".
Should I believe it?

Get a stuff ton of cheap disks at your local Office Max/Depot. Transfer any/all important files onto them. Sleep soundly.
