I sort of have a variation on that... my hands don't really default anywhere, but I use all my fingers when typing.

I don't even type like that. I type with with my index finger and middle finger on both hands because it's faster.

You try reaching keys with your pinky or ring finger, it's so damn annoying and slow.

and i taught myself how to type, i was typing really good before the first typing class, and just like the OP, i typed at least three times as fast when my fingers were just flailing everywhere rather than using the home key positions.

I despise that manner of typing, I just use the finger that's closest to the key at the time and I get ~50 WPM with very few errors.

Instead of putting my hands on certain keys when im not typing, i just rest my hands at my side. i dont see why everyone constantly has to have their hands on the keyboard

I never type like people say I should, though I can. I kind of peck with multiplee fingers, I can actually type kinda fast at about 70 wpm which isn't bad for pecking.
