What kind of mistake?  The face itself is all hardened, around it is still mush.

Well, the type of mistake if the eyes end up all derpy.

Then I paint over it/sand it off, the paint's thin, and easy to cover.  Also, it's relatively strong, so, if I DO want to remove it, I can't simply wash it under some water.

These are all very nice.

His face is the only portion finished.  The rest is still moosh.

bump, can't wait to see more of link

i tried making a daft punk helmet, Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo's helmet to be specific. my first attempt with expandable foam didn't work so well, so then i tried paper:

by this time i figured out that model was too small. so i went online and found a bigger one:

the paper model didn't work out so well either. it was very flimsy, difficult to work with, and very had to get all the proportions right, so i'm going to take a shot at expandable foam again.

Don't use traditional paper. Use cardstock and hot glue as your adhesive.

Paper really isn't something you want to use.  Try using polymers/wax based products, then cast it into resin.

He's doing Pepakura, which requires paper/cardstock (as mentioned, use cardstock). You finish the product then paint fiber glass over it. You can also use bondo for extra stength. Then you actually paint it. People have made suits from all kinds of games. Halo, GoW, you name it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm simply implying that, on occassion, depending on what the artist is able to accomplish, using more efficient mediums is how a more professional look is produced.

In his situation, though, your suggestion seems more fitting.

Of course! But in terms of availability and simplicity's sake, it's easy to use Pepakura. Not to mention people have thousands of files for all kinds of models. I'll post pictures soon. I'm trying to make a Halo Reach helmet at the moment. I have a Halo Reach shoulder pad pepped, Emile's kukri pepped, and an attachment for the helmet I'm making pepped.
