I'm guessing it was ported to Mac because that was during the time when Microsoft was probably less competitive with their exclusives before Xbox/windows Live.
Halo 2 wasn't ported to mac neither was ODST, reach and whatever others I am forgetting.

I'm not surprised Halo CE was even ported to mac. Let's be honest Mac wasn't much competition in 2003.
