Author Topic: Computer upgrade  (Read 675 times)

I dont know if this should be in games or what

I was wondering how I could buy new parts for my computer to run modern day games, and they cant be
over 150$.

CURRENT PARTS:
Intel Celeron processor 450 (Processor)
NVIDIA GeForce 7050 integrated (Graphics card)
3GB DDR2 RAM Memory
500 GB HDD space

I dont think that getting a simple new graphics card would work, it could overload my processor or something.
I dont really know much about computers, so yeah.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

God damn, you need to upgrade just about everything, that CPU has 1 core, you need at least dual core these days to do anything.

youre fine with 500gb hdd space
but you need to upgrade the ram to ddr3 get a better processor and graphics card

wait
wouldnt he have to change his motherboard to upgrade to ddr3 ram?

Probably, and same goes with the processor.
My recommendation:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138290  MOTHERBOARD $49.99
But now we are over his budget with all that I have suggested.

Jesus christ.

Everyone below packer knows NOTHING about computers or how to build one. If you want advice then make your own topic. Don't dump your stuff in here.

Pecon - Your build is really, really bad. I recommend you do ALOT more research or make your own topic and have someone else choose a parts list for you.

zuero - Your's isn't that bad but your processor is pretty lacking. Get a cheaper motherboard and go with the quad core 955. You also don't really need 750w. 600w would be MORE than enough; that build will probably consume like 400 under a high load. Instead of spending $30 on fans for a $45 case you should instead get a $75 case. This:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811815009 Is a very nice case for the price. It has ample cooling and two fan-controlling knobs built it. Unfortunately it doesn't have usb3 ports on the front panel but for your price range your motherboard probably won't have usb3 headers anyways.

Everyone who posted advice but Righteous One is pretty much an idiot.

You need a LOT more than $150 if you want to upgrade your computer decently.  At least $350, maybe.  Depending on your other existing parts.

Considering your system is old you'd need to replace almost everything.

he meant each part has to be under $150
i think

Save your $150 and get a new PC lateron.  No amount of upgrading is going to help what you have.

Wait for christmas time when they have good deals, and ask your parents for some more $$, then you can get a real PC.
