Bitcoins aren't backed by anything. Most currency is backed by gold. Since bitcoins aren't backed by anything they are basically as worthless as runescape Gp.
jesus forget how did i forget to mention this

as worthless as runescape Gp.
psst.
Sites like these exist.
And people use them.

1 bitcoin is like 7 bucks (not exact)
so 7 divided by 30 is 0.233333... in cents
15 cents a day profit = $4.50 a month
wow, you're really rolling in the dough
and now you're putting about twice as much wear on your gpu by leaving it running all night
how long until you need to replace it/upgrade?
How do you know that GPU's need constant repairs?

...
a gpu running 24 hours a day will need replacing
there is NO way to create a gpu that lasts forever with that kind of usage

runescape gp lets you buy things on runescape, so it's worth more than bitcoins

Uh, Runescape is just something on the internet that could collapse too.
It's less likly than a bitcoins based service of course, as it's run by a now big and rich company.
But still.

And I'm not arguing that, it used to be a problem. What I'm explaining is you can't buy stuff with runescape money outside of runescape. If you sell around 5 million coins for 4 dollars then good for you, but anyone paying for those digital coins is an idiot. Also, since the money isn't backed by anything, there's nothing to stop it when it inevitably goes to a value of 0.1 cents.

no matter how devalued gp gets, i can still buy a pair of iron armor for 1000 gp from some random npc
can bitcoin make that claim?

What about when jagex canns runescape in a desperate attemp to avoid bankruptcy? Then Gp is worth nothing.

That's a pretty low standard for currency justification.
Two problems, in fact:
1. Nothing really "guarentees" runescape's prolonged existance. There's just no reason for it to go away.
2. stuffty armor from some generated character on some video game that probably won't even intrest you in a year is hardly grounds to say a currency is worth investing in.

I'm not arguing that bitcoins isn't going to collapse, or that it's going to take over the world. I'm just saying it's not like I'm doing something terriable by running a program on my computer.

And bitcoins are worth.....

The volatility of bitcoin value is null atm.

which means that it's popularity among teenagers is dead.

1. this argument works for bitcoins too
2. better backing than bitcoins have!

And bitcoins are worth.....
a couple months ago they were worth like 30 dollars a coin

and now they're 7

God loving dam it.
I realize that they could be worth nothing tomarrow.
Stop pounding this stuff in.

Wait, the volatility of bitcoins is null?
What's that mean?
That they're not volitile anymore?
