Author Topic: Big Brother's City Role Playing Server!  (Read 12129 times)

For the last week whenever I've checked the server its been empty. Initially when it first launched it was full but now, within the a timeframe of 12 hours in my timezone I happen to never see anyone there. Coincidence, perhaps. But I've seen very few CityRPGs that don't attract an audience 24/7. If it doesn't, leads me to conclude only a select few choose to show up, which isn't a great sign either.
Maybe because all admins except for Magick are from Europe.

So you are saying only the admins play there? Again, thats not a good sign.

No. I'm saying that there is usually not a lot of people on when there are no admins on.

Why is that justifying low visitor count? I don't want to argue, but I am curious as to why inconsistent player occupation has anything to do with whether or not one of your admins is there.

I'm from Europe. :c

People sometimes don't like to be on without admins. In a number of servers I've gone to, regardless of how wonderful everything is, people will only stay for so long if there is no admin present or at least a regular there in case they need something or are curious about something. Usually that is the case with clan servers, but it seems to apply to normal ones as well.

I know I have a good time whenever I'm there, and I happen to think those present in the server do as well. It's not a wonderful city RP. In fact, it is more of a city build with RP elements if anything. But it is still a good server. :o

I meant people living in Europe or in a Europe-ish timezone.

sooner or later I'm going to make it really big, i just dont know how yet.

Sheath, you said "It was small, I hate the boxed in walls". First of all, what the hell am I going to restrict people with apart from the walls? I don't want people wandering off. And even though it's small, it still has available lots.

Nobody minds if you make boundaries, but at least make them invisible or be more creative so it doesn't feel like you are playing inside a cardboard box. Its nasty.

I personally have no mind. Though, I hate how store owners have to pay a high amount for weapons, even though it is cheaper than buying them from someone else.

YOU BUY STOCK FOR CHEAP, YOU SELL STOCK FOR EXPENSIVE

PROFIT

DC was talking to me yesterday about an idea he had after I asked him if the server had loans.

Big, you should have a new job added. "Loan Manager". When a player gets this career, he can stock evented bricks with loans. You would have to say something like 'Loan: 500' and click on the brick to get a loan.

After a set amount of time, the player has the certain amount of money plus interest taken out of his account. The loan manager's income is always 25% of the money paid back regardless of the interest.

Also, if the player doesn't have enough money, it takes away a quarter of how much the player owes gradually.

good idea, let him do it :D

Well he said "You could make already make a loan company, it's just that the problem is enforcing people to pay back loans without a bunch of admins to monitor", so I came up with the details.

He just came up with the base idea :)
