I've had classes with other Michaels before and i have felt embarrassed like this in the past.
That said, I don't think I've ever been good friends with another Michael, despite meeting many in my lifetime.

Never really happened to me because people rarely mistake my name and face together, so I never got comfortable being called something other than my own name. And in turn I've never felt like I was being addressed when they were speaking to someone else.

So then make an over exaggerated disappointed sigh and fall back down into your chair. Or go as if your walking forward, pull yourself back dramatically and sit back in the chair, cross your legs and look attentive like nothing happened at all. Either approach can usually conjure up laughs that reach towards you as opposed to those against you. Sure, words can get some laughs, but they are practically nothing without gestures, tones, and movement.

My entire life has practically been one overblown performance without rhyme or reason. But then again, I'm not really acting, I just am rather animated, if I say so myself. But still. :o

This happens all the time, I have a class where there is a kid sitting in front of me, and his name is Jim, and my name is Tim.

I sat in back of a kid named "Jerkass".  When the teacher called him "Jerkass" I'd get all offended and yell "My name is JerkFACE damn you!"

She never understood why I took it as an insult though.  My name doesn't have ass in it. >:(
