Can't find the thing to change my avatar?

It does seem that you've had your avatar rights revoked. Go ask Badspot, it may be a mistake.

He wouldn't have an avatar in the first place silly.

It appears as if you've been switched to an account type that disallows use of uploading your own avatar (the only option available on these forums.)
Only think I can think of is emailing or PMing Badspot asking for a reason behind this.
