Author Topic: The Internet: A More Serious Place?  (Read 1970 times)

The internet.  Oh its wonders of having huge arguments and blasting opinions at each other, not to mention the vast amount of information one could search up with a few clicks of the mouse.  Whenever a person has had a long day or simply wants to enjoy themselves they would sit back and relax and browse the internet.  An average person may go on a social networking site or search up some particular interests, maybe he/she just doesn't have anything to do.  The internet could be considered an escape from the world, to argue, to share, to work, but is it becoming less and less of a place of refuge from the outer-world?  I've been observing articles and conversations and the internet is becoming more and more of 'the place to be nowadays'.  That being said, audiences that were part of more of one side of the internet is coming to another side (particularly the bad side of the net).  Now, as friends or students or the groups you are in migrate to cyber-space, it doesn't seem like the place it used to be anymore.  Many of you don't mind it, some people just want the comfort of being away from people.  But, the issue here is that laws will take place on the internet, more rules.  Sort of like a big brother watching over you.  You become less comfortable.

The average teen is now becoming more acquainted with the computer and its social infrastructure.  The social infrastructure of the net isn't really the best out of most (Actually, I believe its the worst).  As more and more and more people come on to see the internet's social differences, they would want to put laws or rules in place to make it feel more like the regular world.  We all know this will probably not go well, considering the experts of knowing the nooks and crannies of the internet like how it is now.  Yes, I'm talking about you, yes the one that knows almost everything about memes, knows everything about flame wars and such.  Troll is now becoming more of a definition then slang (Which it should always be slang).  Does anyone see the transfer here?  What I just wrote was written in an unorganized matter, maybe you won't understand the situation I think is a situation.  Anyways, if you do understand it, please, I'd like some comments.

tl:dr I'd really appreciate it if you read it, but if you don't and just want a general idea; Its basically about how the internet is becoming more and more of a novice(noob)-friendly place, therefore the internet is being 'polished up' with its whole social infrastructure.

I just loving posted on Yahoo answers

Wait what's trolling? I thought it meant posting a lot but it was all scientifical.

unlike what exactly

I'm such an idiot. I thought trolling meant you posted a lot, whether it was knowledgable or dumb. Don't worry, Sacred does not post. In fact ill start sharing my good knowledge here to show that I don't cause problems

With more and more people moving onto the internet, bullying online will become more of an issue, opinions will be shot down.

Its not exactly the best place to be if you aren't well educated and don't have a well-established personality or opinion.

Not shot down through force, shot down through the belief that you are inferior from everyone, therefore producing less courage in the low-spirits of today.

Freedom of speech doesn't really apply in certain cases.  Say, Badspot could intentionally ban me for no reason, it wouldn't be against the law, he owns this site and I'm using his product.  I believe there is a Terms of Service I agreed to 3 years ago.

Facebook was one of the worst things to happen to the internet as a whole. That's why I have never and will never have one.

Only applies to Americans.

This is why you have no friends. In honestly though I only use it for events with my friends as well as leaving messages, its much easier then wasting money on calling 10+ people. The rest of the site is utterly useless.
