what do the icons on the map/scrolly thing on top of screen mean

I'm very happy with the return of Dwemer Ruins. They were the best dungeons in Morrowind.
Though it would be cool to see a couple of Ayleid ruins down in southern Skyrim.

They are locations, some are camps, caves, forts, etc.
