WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY?
I was under the impression they used something similar to New Vegas's companion system.
I need explaining to.

They do, and companions can wear different armors and weapons they give you, but wives/husbands aren't companions and you can't bring them with you. They just have special dialogue options and live in your house. At least I think thats how it works. I haven't gotten married yet.
