Perhaps their engine couldn't handle it.
But then, perhaps they'd fire their engineers.

I'm pretty sure they're using motion capture, or at least they did for the execution moves.
You could see some of it in a video, but I forgot which one.

motion capture is cool and all but it kinda sucks if the animations don't blend together.

I'll assume they have something like that.
If the source engine has animation blending chances are Bethesda's new engine has it too.
Either way the only thing that bothered me was the odd impact of landing from high distances,
but chances are you'd die from most of the really high ones anyway.
Man 2:
Well your character swings a sword like he's not blindly swatting to make the bad things go away. He actually appears to know what he's doing.
