pretty sure two handed spears are called staves |
| The True Zephyr:
--- Quote from: Jairo on November 15, 2012, 08:42:39 PM ---pretty sure two handed spears are called staves --- End quote --- A spear is a spear, regardless of how many hands you hold it with. Staves are pretty much long sticks without a point at the end, and are used more often for whacking than piercing skin. |

| Man 2:
Staff: Two- or one-handed weapon, no point at the end, used for bludgeoning Spear: Two-handed weapon, point at the end, used for thrusting and stabbing Javelin: One-handed weapon, point at the end, used for throwing Lance: One-handed weapon, point at the end, used for charging on horseback Glaive: Two-handed weapon, single-edged blade at the end, used for chopping and slicing Halberd: Two-handed weapon, single-edged axe at end with long point at top, used for both chopping and thrusting And this isn't nearly a complete list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_weapon Staves are for hitting, spears are for thrusting, javelins are for throwing. Now can we all stop arguing? |
