Use what little magica you have to set the troll on fire. They don't like fire and it drains their health. OR scale the walls on the mountain up high so the troll doesn't see you or reach you. Because if there's something about skyrim you need to know is that you stick to the steepest hills like a barnacle.

The Companions questline is an excellent way to earn money, especially for mages as you won't be fighting many other magic-users. I personally have the most difficulty fighting other mages as a mage.
I'd reload to a previous save so the woman will give you an easier spell to perform. It's different each time.
If you don't have a save for that, then do the Companion questline to level up until you do.
The trolls on the steps to High Hrothgar are a disgustingly unfair challenge for any player. Run as fast as you can and don't try to do damage.

I've tried getting to the Greybeards by 2 different paths, both leading me to trolls :(
Maybe Im just too low of a level right now to attempt. By the way, Im an Elf and Im wondering what should I focus on leveling up (sneak, speach) when I level up. Right now Im going a lot of sneak and speak and 1 hand

Wood Elf.
Right now I was on a quest to kill a Frost Wraith. It sounded to hard to accomplish a.t.m. so I didnt attempt it. That was for the Stormcloaks.
