It's not worth spending on a house unless it's a Hearthfire homestead.
Also, if you buy the hearthfire homestead at one point you can just buy horses there.

Well yeah, there is that.
All three plots come with a chest, anvil, drafting table, workbench, and chest. The chest is safe for storage.
