cubes, water, and baseplates of course. nothing to fancy for sake of brick count.

i say a slate map would start with a 4x4 64plate area.
that begins as public baseplate. public build lot. no one can add to the landscape, nor destroy it. just build upon it.
and it slowly spawns cubes, water and baseplates, and expands out. opening more build area and space for the developing server.

im sure picking a speed setting is fine, though i would prefer very slow on that month long dedicated game.

and just for shiggles, even allow it to randomly make terrain types and landscape-landmarks to keep things interesting.

just a wild idea im tossing around.

Multiple people have made this but haven't released it. I would suggest just waiting until someone does.

those suck though. plus no release anyways.

i dont want some private mod

Most are just mods for something else, but I'm pretty sure they could make them a lot better.

But yeah wouldn't be bad to have one besides Nexuses alsdkjd

Theres already a Mod by Nexus(client-side). You can download it. It's name is Terragen.  But well, it's spammy and client-side.

I'd like something like this. Eventually something that generates a save file externally, like an external map editor that will save maps for Slate. In it you should be able to have height editor, color editor, etc., it could be more useful than an live in-game one, seeing you won't lag up the server, and you could do big maps easier.

Let's say you want to generate a 256x256 map in Blockland with such a script in LSG or Terragen:
LSG: Not bad but too linear, only generates one-of-a-kind-blocks.
Terragen: Jet around for no reason trying to generate a big land.

With this external tool you could set some height limits; the overall map being generated somewhere around Terragen, except that it works separately from Blockland, when the generation is done, it's saved in a .bls file, since it does not need the player to be on a server or anything it will also be faster, which could mean generation of huge maps (1024x1024?) of 8x and 4x cubes, yet, this could mean massive brick count rape.

But it could be nice, more client-friendly than Terragen and/or LSG, and faster.

The only con it would be that it won't generate more land over the existing land, and will save it as a separate .bls file.

I typed that in a manner not even I understand, sorry if the same goes for you, if you don't understand tell me and I'll just do a image of an example of how the GUI would look like.

Not the same thing he is asking for.

Be glad there is already a one simmiliar.

It doesn't allow you to use waterbricks though. Replacing them would be a pain.

what? yes it does

If you use Landscape Generator to make something, you would have to replace all "Water" blocks with Waterbricks or make the whole thing of Waterbricks.

Once I figure out a good terrain generation technique, I was planning on doing something like this.

i'm pretty sure there's an option to use 2 different brick types...
