Author Topic: Dropshock bought parts for his new computer! (They Arrived!)  (Read 2779 times)

Hm, alright then. When I get to that point I'll probably post on Reddit to get some more GPU ideas but thanks for the help.
Any ideas about this?

It should be perfectly fine. Hope all goes well with your comp. I have to wait until Black Friday as my dad is cashing some money towards my rig. Can be found in Ethan's post here:

Thanks man. I hope nothing goes wrong, this will be my first official build. Other times I've just installed new parts.
Good luck on your build too. :o

Humph! Turns out the money I was going to get from the Xbox was going towards repaying my mother for the computer parts. I understand this and respect it, but I misunderstood her and when I saw I just sold the Xbox for $284 and I could get a nice graphics card I was so excited I nearly stuff myself, but now I'm pretty disappointed. Oh well. I'll get a new one eventually!

If you're going to sell your XBOX, might as well get a goo card.

if you're around the 170 range, get a Radeon 6870.

If you're around the 200 range. Get a GTX 560 Ti.

Either can play Crysis 2 max settings no lag. But the GTX 560 is MUCH faster. And can play the BF3 beta on ultra no lag.

I don't know how you got it in your head that the 560Ti is way way better than the HD6870. They are near equal on most benchmarks, with the HD6870 coming out at 5 to 10% lower performance depending on the game/benchmark, while beating the 560TI on games such as F1 2010, and still being $30 to $40 cheaper.
Anyway, Dropshock, great build.
I'd suggest at least an HD6870 but your HD5770 will hold up fine until then. Remember, the HD5770 is also the HD6770, they just rebranded it. It does well for a cheap card.
Your 600W PSU will be heaps.
Just keep on savin' for that GPU :D

Personal experience. I've tested both and I've personally seen a 10 to 20 fps difference.

Take a look at some benchmarks when you get the chance. You'll see that the difference isn't that much depending on the game of course.
I won't lie, the 560Ti is an incredible card, but is still worse performance per $.

Incase it wasn't a typo don't put thermal paste on your gpu.

Pretty much i buy from any company that's a ASUS divison or used to be (MSI, i'm looking at you)
I do know they are a divison, just saw his budget, leave out a ASUS board, you can get a good ASRock for $160

That made absolutely no sense, lol.
