Zambiezi or whatever the forget it is was a loving huge let down.

"oh yea it'll outperform sandy bridge olol" only stuff that came decent was their integrated graphics.

Looking forward to Ivy Bridge so hard. Will be damn lovey. Also buying a 60 GB SSD this Christmas to load Win7 and favorite games on :D

So glad I found this thread.

What does a processor core look like?
You can't really define a single core, it's in one part, the processor. The processor usually looks like a shiny aluminum cheez-it. Like this:

If you're referring the it's architecture then here's an example of a Sandy Bridge architecture:

wait, could i put this in my computer?

We'd need to know the frequency your motherboard supports. Post your motherboard.

No, that's your processor. Hit your windows button and type dxdiag then search. If it asks you anything just say yes. Look for RAM or memory and it should be like 2BG or 4GB and type that here.

Or just find a model number on your computer and find the website for your computer.

Is this it?
Nope. That's your CPU.
Search on how to find out your motherboard model and/or the frequency of your RAM.

Seems to do pretty damn good for it's price range, pretty much outperforming the 2500k in most tests.

Well from the benchmarks I've read it seems that It's best for video creation and rendering, but in terms of games Intel's 2500, 2600, 2700 and even older bloomfield models outperform.

Ok, so it says my memory is 2046MB

Is that it? Well that means you couldn't use you RAM along with the new RAM, but that really doesn't matter considering RAM is so god damn cheap now.

Try and find your supported frequency.

Wait what

That's just the size. Cyanian, for future reference, we need to know the technology (DDR2? DDR3?) and the speed (PC-333? PC3-1600?).
Open up your case and check if there are any labels on your current RAM sticks that say the speed and platform.
Be careful to ground yourself while handling computer components.

6990's in crossfire? Or 590's in sli?
sorry if this was posted already :P

HD6990s are more powerful (raw power, whereas the GTX590s are just optimized for more of the games), and the HD6990s also scale better in crossfire. So 6990s.
But ideally, if you're rich, get 2 of these beasts for overclocked 580 quad-sli:

Why do Chipsets have funny coverings?
-snip-
Those draw heat away from the chips so you don't bluescreen every five minutes.
