Well, kind of.
You can only select weather or not you want people to be able to message you without being friends.

I'm going to default it to enabled in the next update which makes more sense.

Does RTB update automatically? I didn't go on after v4 was released, I just installed it manually.

Yes it does update automatically, a message pops up when you start up Blockland that says if you want to update
