She was one of the main people in the Powerpuff Girls, too. I liked that show as a kid.
Lauren Faust's mission statement was to provide cool shows for girls. She said she was always sad as a kid that the boy shows centered around Superman and Batman while the girl shows were like "Linda and her Kitchen".
Also, according to her wikipedia article, she's helping with a movie for Captain Underpants, which is nostalgia to the max.
