Try using the "smooth" brush. It a little ways down on the list. Also, if you want to export the image transparent, you can select all the layers but the bottom ones and go to File>Export>Export Layer(s) to Image

What I do is delete the paper looking layer and change the black layer to white.

I did my signature real quick with the smooth brush. The faster you draw, the thicker the line. It doesn't like sharp turns very much:
