there's a possibility

this definitely wasn't 2 seasons though

I haven't watched it yet but people are saying the end of Kill la Kill is a rip off of the end of Sonic Adventure 2.

SPOILERS DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT THEM DUMMY

I think it's clear that someone at Studio Trigger is a big Sega fan, as Kill la Kill is littered with references to their prolific 'Sonic Adventure 2,' from minor nods to scenes taken almost wholesale!

First, we should review our protagonist, Ryuuko Matoi. As we all know by now, Ryuuko is an artificial human, a hybrid of man and clothing created in unethical experiments many years ago. Her plight makes up almost exactly with that of Shadow the Hedgehog, a creature designed to be the ultimate lifeform. Ryuuko is almost called exactly that multiple times throughout the series!

Compare the appearances of Ryuuko and her father with Shadow and Dr Gerald Robotnik, shown below.

Both have a predominant black colour scheme, with a red streak through their spiky hair.

Old, grey-haired scientists with big noses and facial hair. Note also the use of sepia tone to denote a flashback.

When Ryuuko arrives at Honnouji Academy, she immediately comes into conflict with Satsuki Kiryuuin. The two battle multiple times, though a clear winner is never determined. Shadow the Hedgehog, our Ryuuko brown townogue, competes with Sonic multiple times over the course of the game. Satsuki is assisted by her animal themed 'Elite Four,' a clear reference to the colourful menagerie in the Sonic franchise.

The two rivals clash.

Their rivalry later turns into an uneasy partnership as a common enemy reveals itself. Ryuuko and Satsuki band together against their mother, Ragyo Kiryuuin. In Sonic Adventure 2, this common enemy is the original ultimate lifeform.

Former enemies transforming together.

Their battle later takes a dangerous turn, as the entire world is put at stake. This is where the similarities really start to come out, so pay close attention!

Both villains' plans center around a satellite with the ability to destroy all life on Earth.

Together, Ryuuko and Satsuki defeat Ragyou, as Sonic and Shadow do in their story. But the fight is not over. Their enemy takes the battle into space, forcing our heroes to undergo a special transformation to continue the fight.

Their black hair is dyed gold in their final form.

Having defeated Ragyou, Ryuuko is damaged in battle, and plummets towards the Earth. Senketsu bravely sacrifices himself so that Ryuuko can survive, as Shadow does in his game.
