Yes, that's exactly why.  It's all about the research.

Not the idea of a government censoring our internet, the biggest free domain in the history of all man-kind.

Are you going out to protest?

Are you going out to protest?
I'd love to.  Unfortunately I don't have a car and my parents can't be assed to drive me out there.

Despite how much we hate it, no one will do anything about it, because obviously we'd only be so active to stop it for the research. It'd be embarrassing to actually take action.

YouTube would have half it's videos removed.

Facebook and other USA based social sites may be forced to shut down.

All account sytems would change drastically.

Yes, that's the other 50% of reasons why there won't be enough people protesting to stop this. :panda:

YouTube has research videos unblocked now, apparently, with age restrictions set. Why would Facebook be taken down for this, though? Does this mean we'll need mass proxy?

Basically its the end of the free reign of the internet.

If America adopts this then other countries like the UK and Canada will soon follow.

The internet is made to be free.  Current illegal activities such as piracy and child research should still be illegal, however it doesn't merit the control of the internet.

Is this not restricting our freedom of speech/information?

The congress make up stuff all the time just to test their limits. They don't want any of this to pass, they're seeing how far they can push it until they have to bail.

The Internet is just a massive WAN. Someone could make a new one, the only difficulty would be to somehow get the ISPs to connect you to it without it being illegal.

if we don't want youtube to be shut down, just pick up the youtube servers and move them somewhere else c:

I hate communist internet. This USA will become communist soon or later in the future. Our freedom will lose forever.

The American people will never let anything like this happen.

The American people will never let anything like this happen.
But the government probably will.
