It could be done like the octagonal bricks in this pack, where they appear to be connecting sideways but require invisible bricks underneath them in order to work. This is because, to the extent of my knowledge, bricks that connect sideways can't be made.

creating the actual brick with the faces would be difficult, yes, but the normals would be even more-so, thats the main problem I have with the editor that I use to create all my bricks, I cannot view the normals (lighting), nor can I view backfaces so Its mainly guessing whether or not the faces are gonna show up ingame with the correct normals and/or the faces facing the right way

the reason I never released the brick in that topic is because the importer that I used only works by really a random chance, and zack0wack0's new editor crashes on all the formats I export in blender with
