Can't figure out how to do macros

I've watched a couple of videos on youtube but can't figure out how to do macros. I'm on a mac. Maybe this feature doesn't work on a mac?

Here's what I'm doing:

1) place a ghost brick
2) start the macro recording
3) Place the ghost brick plus a few other
4) stop the macro recording
5) Place another ghost brick
6) play back the macro recording

At this point, one of two things happens. Either the spray can will come out and nothing happens or just the first brick gets placed and that's it. It stops.

Did you use shifting only?

Shifting? What's that?

If you are asking if I'm just creating and placing bricks, yeah, that's all I'm doing. I'm not doing anything difficult either, just like 3 or 4 blocks flat on the ground.

One thing I forgot to mention above, when the spray can comes out, it also only plants the first brick. Then everything stops.

It's the feature that lets you move blocks manually instead of placing every fsdddddd.

Yes, you need to shift bricks using the keyboard to have macros work.
example: place brick, start recording, plant brick, shift 3 to right, plant again, stop recording.
