Late response, but what tony is saying is correct.

MLP is a victim of "accidental demographic".
Basically, X intends for Y demographic, but somehow attracts Z demographic.
Z demographic tends to get all self entitled, acting as if it's the real demographic (refer to video). Wether this is a vocal minority or a majority is unknown.
Funny thing is, MLP is the only thing I know of that suffers from it.
