i loving love this game and play it a ton on gameranger.
i remember playing it when i was really young, was the first RTS i've ever played on PC.

I always take better iron and gold mining , higher population cap and cheaper buildings. In military I rely on Infantery-distance because I like to spam 100 marines at the enemy and because they are cheap to produce.
Depending on the map and age I always take range + damage for buildings, higher population and range + damage on infantry/tanks/etc. I barely enhance ships and aircraft. I barely use siege weapons, so maybe I should stop enhancing them.
Also when you have damage + range for infantry (Distance), and enhance the snipers with +4 damage and range each, +2 for speed you get some pretty sick ones.

THIS GAME + AGE OF WONDERS = MY CHILDHOOD
OH GOD
age of wonders was more fun and still is more fun, though

Playing the Russian campaign right now!

I am setting up a server on the normal Empire Earth. If anyone wants to join, get the free multiplayer client from save-ee.com. We will play on a random large map.

This game is very good, I have 1 and 2 at home, and I loaned out 3 to a friend because I'll never play it. I'm glad I only spent like $3 on it at a garage sale. EE is better than 2, but 2 is still fun and I'll play with my bro every now and then, but 1 is the greatest.

you should try game ranger

Anyone got the expansion ?

Only until the 14th though.
Does that mean if you get it now you get to keep it forever (theoretically) or does that mean you lose it on the 14th?

5 out of 7 enemy civs (medium difficulty) decided to play a game of "forget over the human." All of them sent goddamn loving hordes of rock throwers and clubmen at my village which had NO MILITARY and NO TOWERS. When the fight started, my citizens were like roosterroaches exposed to the light suddenly. When I finally rallied them (and the enemy destroyed half the village) I pelted them with spears until a few stragglers were left, which promptly killed each other. They did this over and over through the first epoch all the way to the dark ages, then I finally saved and quit the game.

I remember iron is extremely hard to find
I had "large islands" on with "standard-low" for resources. I had two forage patches, tons of forest, two iron deposits (one close to camp and another on the other side of the island), one gold mine (kind of far off) and one stone mine (kind of close). I couldn't mine enough iron to train enough soldiers to hold back the constant, endless waterfall of enemy soldiers. It got bad when they started to send elephants.
