If we are discussing creepy pokemon, apparently Phantump are the spirits of children who died in the forest. It' evolved form Trevenant can move the trees in a forest to trap people so that they can never leave.
In short. Trevenant makes more Phantumps by killing people

Well, apparently Trevenant only kills people who harmed the forest, so that means- okay I think I'm looking too deep into this.
