Doesn't Pokerus make a Pokemon's EVs better? So isn't that a good thing?

Pokemon with it gain EVs twice as fast, the name makes it sound bad.

I never really understand EV training and getting perfect EVs and all that.
I looked it up once, and it made no sense to me.
