Okay the README just says

Extract the folder 'Gm_ghosthunt2' to - garrysmod/garrysmod/addons

also you need Half Life 2, Episode 1, and Episode 2 (all three) in order to play it. Do you have them?

yep, have them.
i thought you put it in garrysmod/garrysmod/maps

also, am i not supposed to be able to open the folder for it
when i try to extract it, it doesn't work :(

huh? When you downloaded the .zip from garrysmod.org I assume, there was a folder in it named gm_ghosthunt2, three pictures, and a readme.

Just put that gm_ghosthunt2 folder you downloaded into your garrysmod addons folder

this is what my main garrysmod directory looks like



then inside the "Addons" folder is this stuff



and you should be set

And just for the record, the map was extremely gay and dissapointing

You don't need Half - Life 2. Just the episodes. All HL2 content is included with your installation of Garry's Mod.
