Practice, then get someone to look at your build, and tell you ways you could improve it.

Like everybody says, practicing is the key. I'm assuming why everybody says this, is so you can develop your own style.

Style is a little complicated to explain, but I'll try.

Whelp, Style is depending completely on you.
I'm going to say there is three styles.

* Very Detailed     - Putting blocks to make detail wherever the person can, and making sure everything looks breathtaking.

* In the middle     - Symmetrical, and making sure everything isn't overdoing it.

* Very Clean     - Low detail, but very slick looking.

All, I will have to say, take the same 'skill level'.

Also, a small tip that I believe has been given out lots of times.
Don't use small bricks when you can fit in bigger bricks. For example, it looks very spammy if you use 1x16 bricks. Use the tall x5's at the near end of the regular bricks list to construct better walls.

I believe when I first joined BL, I used to build brickmaps, host them, and get feedback from people who joined my server. I eventually got better.
