Author Topic: Aplems Italian City Center [C] App - UPDATED HOPEFULLY FOR LAST TIME  (Read 3419 times)

I remember before I came to America for college I stuck to the good old Italy for comfort and fun. So today I thought it would be fantastic to build something bringing me back some nostalgia of Italy. When ever driving around I would come across some type of big city center that had a path with a unique design and then a big building that was a shop complex. I decided to build one and well... it turned out "okay".

/!\UPDATED PICTURES/!\

What I did this time is I changed the gardening around as Sleven told me to and he said it would look better. I added some outer hedges, lightened the grass and added some bushes around and decreased the flower amount and colors.

I repainted the outside again for Mr.C and changed it to a lighter color.

The interior design of the Coffee Shop is now not a straight colored wall and now has a column design built into it. How you like it now Sleven? c:

Changed some lighting effects on interiors.

Altogether I think this hopefully is the last update I have to do.

A little side note : Sleven you said some fallen leaves I tried that using rounds and I honestly don't think it looks that good. I will probably get rid of the 1x1f'rounds because it just makes it look a little sloppy and crowded in my opinion.

OLD PICS:

Okay here we go again!

I used a new colorset (Lego Colorset : Eksi (thanks Eksi c:)) mainly for coloring purposes and looking for that perfect range of colors.

I recolored the outside of the build to that beige that Mr.C wanted and it looks much, much better.

The inside of that Coffee Shop is now fixed up and hopefully looks much better.

Fixed the roof area and make it look more like a wrap around style than a blank hangover.

Continue on [C].

OLD OLD PICTURES

NEW PICS: (not as much but just showing basic changes)

Bench fix for Sleven.

Tried different things out, this turned out much better. MR.C

No many eye-rape floors. MR.C

Exterior colors and path fix. Mix between some of you.

Attempt at a better tree.

Showing path fix.

Frontal view

Back view.

What I decided to change around a bit are basically what a majority of you told me to change. The color scheme looks more modern and some of the night pictures are fantastic with the lighting. I got rid of the eye-rape floors and added a more basic brown. The walls inside the small coffee shop I changed to a more dark grey and same with the counter, the floor was also changed to 1x2f design.

The small lounge room (where me and my friends used to hang out in) was changed from a crappy green/blue floor to a rich brown I also finished the walls in there to with a more dark-smooth red and it turned out quite nice.

The benches were changed to your feet go a little off the edge.

Window proportions I kept the same because thats how they were then and thats how I like them now c:

The trees I tried to make better and it turned out kind of better but also a tinge weird but oh well. Also with that I fixed the path for Sleven because he thought it would look better grey but I kept the small design around the fountain. (good suggestion Slev)

I think altogether it turned out much better, thanks [C]

It's... beautiful!

/tearsofjoy

It's awesome, too bad there's not more. :'c
Nevermind, read as "Aplems Italian City"

I was going to use this to app into [C] since it says applications are re-opened for 2 weeks. I am just unsure :c

Do it do it do it.

I would think this would get you. The plaza area is very nice, the building is a tad sqaure but I'm sure that's how they are in reality so overal, 8.5/10

there is no real design to this at all

the interior colours also mismatch each other greatly
 - not many dark green carpets appear in real life buildings; they look pretty bad
 - pretty much no one uses vibrant red floors; they look worse than dark green
 - interior wall is just too vibrant red
your choices of colours makes no sense

you could try to have the colours compliment each other. that way, they'll match more easily

i always thought that lighter colours provide a more open feel, while darker colours provided a more warm and comfy feel.
vibrant colours on the other hand, don't really do much at all but hurt peoples eyes unless you absolutely know what you're doing.

Yeah, I don't like this too much either, you should've finished that interior anyway.

If I was a colleagues member, I would say 'no'.

-snip-

I can see where you are coming from. The thing is I made this basically the almost exact same as on of the city centers I always hung out at with my friends in Italy. It had this unique path design, and a brown mixed with lighter/smooth grey. The floors I tried to get the exact same and to tell you the truth that's the closest I could get.

If that is your saying than what would you think would be better more mixed and complimenting colors?

I would have said 'no' because of the lack of interior if I were still in C. But the exterior is fine, and needs no editing.
The present interior is fine aswell. Just add more.
But Drake kicked me for what i believe was liking little skipping mini-equines.

There is too many negative points to actually have a chance at all. It's no from me.

The "paths" that is used at the area has a useless pattern. It would had looked a lot better with just plain grey.
The benches should be one step smaller so the feet stick out a bit and the trees have a too thick trunk for it's height.
As mrc pointed out, the interior colors is not appropriate. Change immediately.
The chairs are too fat and squarish. Try using "a random brickpack" and more rounds.
I like the exterior though, even if it's a bit repeated and monotone colored. I also think you used that "fence" style too much.

Next time you make an app. Do the whole interior and don't block the windows with those horrible colors.

This is just my opinion, so it maybe isn't helping at all. :P
I'm sorry if I wrote anything offensive.

Also, where are my colleagues?

Also, where are my colleagues?
hello

I would also like to say that you could work a lot more on this building. It's lacking some key structures that are necessary when designing.

For one thing, the windows don't match the design you're pitching, and they're too large for the exterior walling design you've made.

I think you need to research proportion and theme.

Other than that, you're getting better for sure. Please also work on your environmental work too, if you're going to apply with something that involves a park, or a mountain, or anything green.

you're getting better! ~ <3

ugh, Custard summed it up really well.

I just pointed out details. :(

Sadly, my English fails me when I try to explain stuff.
That's why the criticism usually get harsh and bland.

Well like I asked before, what colors do you think should be included on the inside?

The windows are intentional as they are about how big the windows were back in Italy when I was last there about 7 months ago. Me and my friends hung out there all the time so I had a pretty good remembrance of what it looked like.

Sleven I will fix those trees and benches and I will work on the interior colors just can someone suggest what color to use for those?
