Payday: The Heist launches then crashes almost immediately

Has anybody else experienced this kind of problem? I want to know if there's a way to fix this that doesn't involve me getting a new computer :|

system specs? any error message when it crashes? integrated graphics or a full GPU?

Right click payday the heist in steam.  Go to properties, click local files tab.  Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache...

No error message when it crashes. And yes I have a stuffty integrated graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 3000)
