Garrys Mod error.

Hey I just got Garrys mod for Christmas and I installed steam then I downloaded I believe its Counter-Strike + Garrys Mod. I installed Garrys mod ad loaded the game up. I pressed Start Singleplayer game and well, when it started loading it got to about 7 blocks on the loading bar and it said "Loading Resources" and it NEVER continue to load. Can anyone help?

You're sure you also installed Counter-Strike? It needs a Source game as a base, it is a mod.

Garry's Mod is a game, contrary to what the title says. And back on topic, do what MegaScience said and make sure CSS is installed and mounted.

I know it's big enough to be it's own game, but doesn't it still rely on a Source game as a base, meaning it works like a mod? I do remember hearing sometime soon he's going to make it standalone and not subject to Valves Mod-breaking updates... Although then again, the updates do try to fix things... Meh.

I guess you could say it "works like a mod" but it's still classified as a game. And I never heard about the bolded.
