lag issue caused by roughter

I'm at my grandparent's, and there is something wrong with blockland and thier roughter. when I serch for servers, i get mostly no-ping serveers. when i do goin one and spawn, The ethernet/internet light flashes and at the same speed the lag screen pops up? help please
