Being chased by incorporeal beings that you cant kill. Having to hide as a monster stands just around the corner as you wonder if its going to kill you or not.
Slim chances of escaping from something chasing you. Never knowing when it will show up again. Small number of saves and worse consequences for loosing. Fear of death.
