Cheques are easier to forge than currency, barring the fact that a cheque is only a promise of payment, and not actually money.
I'd rather get paid in cash than by cheque any day.

That's because restaurants have common demand for cash because they actually need it within that day. And when you get paid from working a job in a cheque, you're still getting money. There is absolutely no difference except for the amount of time to receive the money.
