CityRPG:

Actually, if stores want to close at night, they can. The events "onNight" and "onDay" exist and can easily be set up to manipulate door permissions.

Since people are harder to see, names have a shorter viewing distance, and criminals love to tip the scales in favor of night, the dark will be a particularly dangerous time in the City.

Maybe the, "Night" slider can affect your ability to steal things during night, which could be an incentive for some store owners who sell expensive wares to close at night. Of course any common criminal could purchase a lockpick and force the door open. It doesn't have to be the night slider, I just can't find the image of the personal beliefs GUI you made because of how large the thread is. For future reference can I have a link?

An alarm system would be a cool addition but for the most part it's superfluous and way too overcomplicated when you could just place a security camera near your door that would observe people trying to break into your store. But on the flip side, if the store owner could afford a security camera, there is literally no incentive for them to lock at night, so there needs to be something that can protect a store owner's door during night when it's locked, but do nothing to prevent criminals stealing during the day.

This is all open to your decision of course, but if you did this, it would help reinforce that night is more for crimes and shady deeds than flower shopping and building grocery stores.

It could serve as a stepping stool to the security camera for players trying to start a business.

And ya that would be cool that you could rob buildings at night and the security camera could catch them and leave the ! down as the witness or whatever.

that isn't what I was trying to summarize in that paragraph at all.

wtf.

CityRPG:

Sev, I have a progression bar script in CityRPG used for a bunch of things, like the arrest timer, mining, etc.

I'm going to apply two new progression bars:

1. Picklocking will work like mining. Doors will have health depending on their type. I'm also strongly considering giving doors a price tag to keep more secure doors unavailable to poorer players, and to reduce the number of doors people will use because static shapes are very costly to render.

2. Mayoral Threat. Holding your weapon out near the mayor, pointing it at the mayor, shooting near the mayor, etc. The scarier you act in the vicinity of the mayor, the higher it goes, until it hits max and becomes a crime that will allow the Mayor to defend himself.
