sniper wars are pretty much target ranges, only the targets usually know where you are and if you take too long trying to find a target then you get shot

it's no fun to be repeatedly killed by someone you can't see with no real, decisive way to get revenge. it's actually a source of frustration
sniper wars involve repeatedly killing people from stealth and intentionally hoping to high heaven that you aren't found and killed (from stealth) yourself
