You can't be evil in Mass Effect. You can either be the good guy or the good guy who acts kind of like a jerk. The end result of each play style is the same with the only difference being whether you piss off Inconsequential Character A or Inconsequential Character B. The big decisions you make in Mass Effect 1 receive no more than a short cut scene or line of dialogue in the second game. Outside of that they have absolutely no effect on the story. |

I think Mass Effect 2 has slightly better gameplay. I played ME2 before ME, and I don't believe it spoils anything major. (Spoilers: You defeat the primary and early-established antagonist in Mass Effect). If you're a fan of third person, cover based shooting games, go for ME. If you're not sure, ME2 may be better for deciding whether you like the series. |
