Unless his amygdala was somehow damaged in a story, personal stories of 'bad' things happening to him mean absolutely nothing, and they most certainly don't support his behaviour.

Most of high I didn't get stuff because I was mature compared to others so they respected me for that. Well, that and weed made me bond with many people.
