GTA IV Help?

okay so i got gta iv on computer and whatnot and it works fine, but when i go into multiplayer the sound comes out of my speakers instead of my headphones and i can't fix it.

what do?
yes my headphones are plugged in

What OS are you using and what version?

If using windows 7, go to the control panel and fiddle with your headphone options in the hardware and sound category.

Cheezr:

i know i usually have to set my 'speakers and headphones' thing to default communication device to hear everything through my headphones but for some reason i did that and it's still not coming through my headphones
edit:

can i also allocate more ram to the game and if i do that will it make this game run better?
if i can will it affect my computer in any negative ways?

It already does use as much RAM as it needs.
