No, it covers two pixels. Look at the snow in the bottom left of this screenshot.

If you can't see it, zoom in on the pixels on the corner. It's two pixels. :D

I think you should've made Redstone Ore look less crystal-ish and the iron, coal, gold and diamond more crystal-ish.
After all, Redstone is some sort of dust.

Coal =/= crystal

Also, Crystal + Hammer(pickaxe in this case) = dust
