Being an embedded programmer is very different to being a game programmer.

It's not so much a question of whether he can program the game (we all know he can), it's a matter if he can make the game he programs worth playing. People that don't play games generally don't know what gamers look for in a game (subtle or otherwise), regardless of how informed they are.

Yes. And mmog's are still not simple. I'm sure he can program simple game, but I doubt he would be able to program something as massive as an mmog, even if he worked on it for years.
